We gave Snip his medicine, but he was being difficult. Apparently, giving medicine to dogs is a lot easier than cats. With every dog I've ever had, you can get pills and just toss 'em into their dinner bowl or jam it into a little chunk of bread and they'll wolf it down eagerly. But I had to try to hold Snip still while Karen squirted the liquid medicine into his mouth, and he was rather resistant to the idea. It was rather like trying to jam an ornery live octopus into a pillow case.

In other news: I've been up and down all day. Exercise. XD It's now officially Christmas Eve here, and because my family is plagued with procrastination, we're only just now finishing wrapping stuff up. About every five minutes or so since Dad and Karen got home, I've been called to deal with something or another. Oh well. I appreciate a busy day.

Although it is rather cramping my knit-scarves-for-everyone-before-Christmas-morning mission. Karen's the one who ordered this. I'm drowning in yarn right now, with a half-done black-and-blue scarf for Dad dangling from the little plastic loom thing. And that's as far as I've gotten. I have five scarves to make. I'm not going to sleep anytime soon. XD

I don't mind, though. I feel useful, so it makes me happy, and the fact that, although I was ordered to do it by Karen, I can give presents to people. I like giving people stuff, and I was having trouble deciding on something to try to draw for my parents over here. Mum and Jared are pretty damn easy to draw for. Draw a portrait of them or a cutesy picture of a bulldog and they're pleased. Dad? Not so much. He doesn't appreciate art--visual art, anyway. He appreciates music, but nothing else. I spent hours painting a watercolor of his favorite band's logo one Christmas and he tossed it in January. It bothers me a little bit, but hey, they can't all be winners.

In other other news: Fuck yeah! Christmas Eve!

    Wi-Fi....
Definitely, DEFINITELY need to set up my own wi-fi off my cable... this leech is just way way too slow. It's working in the pinch of setting the PS3 up and getting it going... but 125 MB should NOT NOT take this long. I can do 125 on my computer is like 4-5 minutes. It's taking at least 10 here. Ugh...

I played some Stranglehold. Holy shit that is amazing.

And going through the Playstation store and seeing the demos and PSN games and all the Free TV and Videos? So glad I shelled out for the 250 Gig hard drive. I'm gonna fill it quick!

Karen says that the vet didn't find anything wrong with Snip; they said he just might have a virus. They gave us some medicine and special food for him.

He's being unusually lovey right now. XD He doesn't like being in my room, usually, but right now, he's just chilling on my bed right next to my computer. That's fine. I'm just taking a short break to pet him and spoil him, like cats who've just been to the vet should be. X3 ♥

P.S. I'm going to have to put Void on hold for a bit. Karen says I have about two days to make a scarf for some particular family members. XD

Boo. I was on a roll with Void today, too. Five pages in a day.

I hate wrapping presents. I love giving people stuff, of course, but in a perfect world, I would just hide it in my closet until Christmas Eve and then put it out under the tree without ever having to bother with the paper or tape or scissors parts.

I'm usually pretty good with my hands, too. But when it comes to giftwrapping? Nuh-uh. My hands suddenly seize up and get really stupid.

You could give me the most perfect box in the world and it'll wind up with all kinds of weird-ass lumps and spikes and bits sticking out after I'm done with it. It's like I threw festive paper on top of a sea urchin or something.

Yet my parents both still insist on asking me to wrap stuff, even though everybody else is better than I am. I don't get it. Why don't they just ask, I dunno, Jessie, to wrap all of the stuff, and then get Shannon to wrap Jessie's presents?

I guess it keeps people guessing. Maybe that's why.

I had a dream that I was wandering around in some large but mostly-deserted city. I found a small group of people in one particular building. Well, mostly people. There were some anthro-type furry critters there. And Captain Jack Harkness was there, too; he was making soup for everyone. I asked for some of the soup and he gave me a bowl of it.

Yeah. Not terribly exciting, but it was kind of cool to see Captain Jack making soup. XD Lawl.

    Icon post!
I haven't posted icons in AGES, but I've made so many I don't feel like uploading all of them yet.
So, instead, have a bunch of icons (many animated!) I just whipped up, along with a few more icons from a short while ago.

Warning: Possible spoilers~ so if you haven't seen the Ginga-dan/Team Galactic finale (it hasn't even been dubbed into English yet), you might want to avoid~

    There's Shirona/Cynthia, Hikari/Dawn, Satoshi/Ash and friends, the Lake Spirits, some Ginga-dan members, Reiji/Reggie and Shinji/Paul. Enjoy!

Another Day Older, Another Day um... Older
I turn 32 today. 2009 went obscenely quickly and while eventful it was also really uneventful.. I know that makes no sense. In 2009 I really focused on getting back to what I love, doing creative work, but I haven't fully gotten there yet. I really got more involved in the art scene, all aspects and really focusing my energies further into enjoying it and giving back. Got back into performing again and as my new regular spot HiChristina has had to close through various reasons, I need to move on and find an outlet to release. 2009 will be working on getting myself into a place to do that more and getting back into film/TV again after many years. It's time to get serious, I just hope I can live by what I think.

Thanks go out to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday so far and those that still will.

If I was going to throw a party it would've happened Saturday the 19th, but a blizzard hit NYC and I threw myself a party instead that took place in another plane of existence. Having a party after my birthdate is really hard (especially this year). People are usually going to take full advantage of a four day weekend and spend it with their family, unless their Jewish. I guess I could invite all the people and see what happened, but it's be messed up if no one showed up. Right? Right? Right.

I'm considering buying a PS3 and then setting up full wi-fi in the apartment. We shall see. I have books that I ordered from B&N.com that were supposed to come today, but now the stamps.com says they tried yesterday at 6! Bullshit! So I have to pick them up. I got the rest of the Artemis Fowl series, the final Lemony Snicket and Chris Riddel's Ottoline book 2. I almost ordered a lot more, like Isaac Adamson's books, the Wayne White art book, and tons more... but I realized if I did that... a PS3 consideration was completely gone.

I've been doing the What's New at Yahoo! game because somehow almost all of 2009 I forgot that game. It's been fun, discovering stuff on the internet and the world I knew nothing about. That should create a fun or a couple of fun posts.

    The end.

Doing a little bit of work on Void. Morgan wonders if Moffat is just a normal guy with a truly insane heroic streak or secretly some kind of magical superman that just likes to wear police outfits in the course of his awesome deeds. In-universe memetic badassery. XD I love Moffat. He's probably one of the best characters I've ever created.

Also, Fairchild is creepy, Morgan wants to mount a rescue mission, and Moffat tries to pull strings at the police department.

Okay, who the hell put a curse on my house?

First Buckeye died on Friday, and now two of our other animals are getting sick.

Teddy... it might be just because he's ancient, as far as dogs go, but he seems to have lost a lot of weight in the past week or so (even though he's been eating normally, and hasn't shown any real signs of sickness), and he's having trouble walking around--I have to carry him most everywhere he needs to be now. He's been blind for a little over a year now, and normally, he has no trouble navigating around, because the layout of our house has been the same for his entire life so far (with the exception of the bedrooms, which he's not allowed in, because he gets stuck under the bed and it hurts my back to try to pull him back out). But now he's been stumbling around and getting pretty lost and doesn't seem to know what's going on. It worries me. I know he's old and it wouldn't be entirely unexpected, and I complain about his barking, but I honestly do love that dog. He's a good dog, and he's been here forever. I don't want anything to be happening to him.

Snip--the remaining cat--is getting sick. He seems a bit lighter than usual, too. I'm about five years old at heart and enjoy picking him up to pet him, and I've noticed he's a bit thinner and lighter than normal, even though he's been eating, too. But unlike with Teddy, he's not all THAT old (Karen thinks he's about eight, but none of us can remember exactly when we got him), and Snip has been throwing up here and there for the past day or two. We don't have anything poisonous lying around (no poinsettias, and he's steered well clear of the tree), so maybe it's a virus, but I dunno. I'm worried.

But Karen's taking both of them to the vet tomorrow, so hopefully, we'll get some kind of medicine to fix them up, or something. Hopefully.

Stains and Dio seem to be just fine, so I don't think it's anything in their food or water--both the dogs and both the cats eat the same food, and the dogs eat from the same bowl. Shit, Dio's probably the healthiest animal around this house right now.

What's up with this? Did someone decide that not enough shit has befallen this house in the past year, and decided to ladle some more onto us at the last minute? What the hell?

I'm watching A Christmas Story. Definitely my favorite Christmas movie of all time. It's so damn funny. XD

I can't remember my dreams today. I got distracted by doing my chores. It happens.

Anyway, I drew the picture for my mum and stepdad. It's the first time I've ever drawn two people together. I dunno how well it went, but they'll probably hang it on the fridge anyway, because they think I'm really good at art. I'm not, but hey, they can go on thinking it. XD

Still working on the second bit of my zombie story. I felt obliged to throw in some shit about how the world starts collapsing, but it's difficult. XD I'm not big on this sociopolitical philosophizing stuff. The focus is more on the Ragtag Bunch of Misfits that run around smashing zombies as they travel westward. It's like a post-apocalyptic travelogue!

Nevertheless, I felt like I had to mention it and get it out of the way before I started writing about Charlotte's problems with being stranded in the middle of nowhere, or Sgt Baker's difficulties in keeping order in her city, or anything else.

(Speaking of Charlotte, I'm thinking of changing her name before I write her in. Perhaps to something shorter. Like "Tessa." I like that name.)

    Thank you TNT
TNT has been getting me into all these shows I never got into somehow like "Cold Case", "Las Vegas" and "Without a Trace". I wanna get more into their original shows too. I don't know I missed out on Leverage or missed that The Closer was in its FIFTH season. I can't believe I missed Dark Blue either. Too much TV, too little time? Not sure... but I definitely need be more aware of shows I'd really watch so I can avoid the junk just to be stimulated.

example: Except for Jericho's small cameo, RAW was a total flop. From beginning to end... there's another UNIVERSE under the ring! A UNIVERSE! Seriously??!

Wow. Rule 63 is true. I... I kind of want to read a doujin about all of the author-tans listed here. Especially Ellis-tan and Gaiman-tan. As long as it's not, you know, rule 34. (Damn you, Rule 34!) I'd just like to see Cute Girly Author-tans running around doing stuff in-character. Like Girly!Moore running around being spooky and intimidating. Though I imagine Girly!Gaiman would be a lot like Death, actually. I also like the idea that someone will eventually make a doujin where all the author-tans team up as a magical girl squad with Terry Pratchett as their animal companion. That's just brilliant. (So it's only /b/ that's a wretched hive ALL the time. Huh. You learn something new every day.)

    Sgt. Slaughter with "gay" humor??!?!
    Oh my god...

Johnny Damon and Sgt. Slaughter were standing under mistletoe by accident and Sgt. Slaughter acted like he wanted to! Johnny Damon said "Don't even think about! and that's an order!" and while Damon was walking away, Slaughter said "Come on Johnny, Dont Ask, Don't Tell!"

and Slaughter was dressed as Santa Claus!

Damn it I hate Holiday Hiatuses, there's nothing else on!

    Smokey Robinson.

I had a dream that I got to hang out with the Eleventh Doctor. I was riding a bike around the neighborhood and the TARDIS just randomly showed up, so I got off my bike and was all "zomg awesome! TARDIS!" The Doctor poked his head out and I went, "There's nothing here! It's boring! Why are you here? Can I come with you?" being generally a pest until he told me there was some kind of vicious swamp monster in the woods just beyond my neighborhood. Yeah.

So Eleven and I ran around looking for it and ran into Linkara, who tried to give us a short lesson in German grammar (IDK why). We sat around my house drinking tea for a bit, then went up to the lake to fight the swamp monster. There was some annoying comedian guy blocking our way and shouting out his standup routine. So I had to get around him in order to beat the swamp monster with a stolen road sign.

Then Eleven and I went back to the TARDIS and I grabbed on to his coat to beg him to take me with him and not leave me in North Carolina. XD

In other news: I had a big long chore list today, but I finished it, and now I'm multitasking--working on my zombie story, watching COPS, and trying to draw a good picture for my mum and stepdad.

The New NEW NEW! Marvel Ultimate Line
I never got into the Ultimate Line of comics. I was reading Millar and Hitch's "Ultimates" for a few issues and later was tempted to start reading Ultimate Spider-Man when Stuart Immonen became the regular artist.

Something kept me away though. Even though I liked the universe as it existed.

Well, now Jeph Loeb is basically rebuilding his own section of the Ultimateverse were two new books. Ultimate X and New Ultimates. I believe they'll both be bi-monthlies.

Usually I would ignore this too, but the art teams are just too hard to resist and the "jumping on" point of a universe rebuilding after Magneto has destroyed 65% of it is quite interesting.

The art teams? Art Adams on X and Frank Cho on Ultimates. Hopefully with the bi-monthly schedule this means that those will be the artists for the foreseeable future. I think I'm going to take a chance on them though... the chance of regular Cho and Adams are stories that while embroiled in a huge continuity at this point still seems like something worth checking out.
